Pamplona Bull Run - Madness

Rob at the Bull Run

Due to the lack of sport this summer some of the lads and I decided to go to Pamplona to do the Bull Run at the San Fermin Festival. After a couple of days in Madrid we took the train to Pamplona to begin the chaos.Anyone who has been to San Fermin knows the madness that happens there, just imagine 10,000 people all dressed the same drinking way too much sangria in the street.

We arrived at Pamplona train station at about 7:00 at night and proceeded to spend the next 4 hours there watching the Wimbledon Final (what a match by the way) before heading into Pamplona town. We then went on a rollover and drank through the night, taking a couple of hours to sober up to run with the bulls at 8am.

Bran and Paudie Doing the Run

This is one of the best things i have ever done, it starts with 1 horn to let everyone know the bulls are in the pen and ready to go, followed by a second horn to let everyone know the bulls are on the run. The aim of the game is to get as close to the bulls as possible without getting killed, thankfully nobody was killed during the run this year, but there were 90 people injured.

You can hear and smell the bulls before you see them, with hundreds of people scattering just before they get close.

It is well worth a trip to the festival, and you will have a load of fun if you do the run or not.

The first photo is of me and a friend of mine Gally, and the second photo is of the run in full flow, three of the lads i was away with are in that pic, Bren hugging the wall, Dave stacking it on the floor and Paudie in the bottom left hand side of the pic legging it.

I do apologise that this post has nothing what so ever to do with affiliate marketing, but it was a great experience and one i wanted to share.

That’s definitely something I want to do! For a laugh I also recommend La Tomatina, we ended up there last year. Thousands and thousands of tourists and Spanish locals in a tiny village lobbing tonnes of tomatoes at each other. There are literally rivers of tomato juice running through the streets after a while. Noone gets out clean, and a few people die due to the amount of people, but it’s less dangerous than the bulls I imagine! The Spanish are raving mad…
