Quidco and Awin Burn Bridges
As many of you who read the forum will have seen, Quidco have announced that they will no longer be working with Awin moving forward.
Both parties have given their side of the story publicly, with Quidco stating that they are concentrating on working with a smaller number of suppliers and Awin stating that they were getting disgruntled with Quidco’s SureShop system and the lack of clarity which this brings to the affiliate arena.
It looks like this is a big of a clash of the egos, with Quidco putting pressure on Awin due to their huge affiliate commissions, and Awin refusing to back down.
It will be interesting to see how this changes the arena, Quidco do some crazy commission numbers. A few network staff have told me some commission numbers paid in the run up to Christmas and it is definitely not to be sniffed at.
The question is can Quidco continue to perform without the wealth of premium exclusive merchants that Awin command?
Can Awin really afford to let was in certainly one of their top 3 (if not top) affiliates go?
And what will the merchants do who consider Quidco to be one of their most valued affiliates, will they look elsewhere? Will they work direct?
I am sure the sales boys at the other networks are sniffing around Awin’s clients already, trying to get them to go dual network.
I am not sure who is in the right here, looks like 6 of one and half a dozen of another, but we have some interesting times ahead of us.
What i am wearing right now: Shorts and a tshirt, though i did have jeans and a shirt on earlier for a meeting - I love my job

I am intrigued that there seems to be a lot of emphasis on the merchanst losing out with this Quidco issue. If you look at the many customer testimonials you will see most of them quote “I earn cashback on items i would buy anway”. As a price comparison affiliate i lose out in the chain anyway as people tend to find the best or cheapest supplier on my site then go use their quidco links instead of mine so the networks are not actually going to lose out anyway. Sure Quidco has it’s uses but in all i would bet that sales after a while would just redirect through other water flows.
