Things that Affiliate Marketing Can Learn From The FA Cup
1. Small Teams Always Have a Chance
It was great to see Havant and Waterloo mucking in with the best of them at Anfield, taking the lead twice in front of the kop.
The same thing can happen in affiliate marketing, with so called small players competing with the big boys and outperforming them. The biggest example of this is PPC with affiliate competing with huge search agencies and beating them in their own backyard.
2. Form is Temporary Class is Eternal
There are only 6 teams from England’s top division left in the world’s oldest knockout football tournament. With both Derby and Man City crashing out to lower league sides in the 4th round. If football has taught us anything over the years is that form is temporary and class in eternal, all affiliates, all companies for that matter, go through bad patches and hit obstacles.
The most notable obstacle over the last 2 years has been the Google Quality Score, and before that the removal of multiple listings in Google. The point is “Class” affiliates will overcome these obstacles and excel
3. “It’s a Funny Old Game”
Football is famously a “funny old game” with things not working as you think they should do. Affiliate marketing is the same, there are affiliates with next to no technical knowledge doing very well and concepts that you would expect to die, flourishing under the idiosyncrasies of Affiliate Marketing.
4. Silly Mistakes Cost Matches
Spurs lost on Saturday to a below par Manchester United after a few dodgy moments and decisions. This can happen in Affiliate Marketing, if you don’t think things through you can end up making a bad choice and costing your team a huge amount of money.
Then again sometimes you just have to hit it and hope for luck.
